WLOFF LEAGUE RULES

2021-22 World League of Fantasy Football Rules

I.                  ROSTER

A.                 Each owner shall draft a roster, via open draft, consisting of 17 “players” – there are no positional requirements

B.                 Each team must designate its active roster for the upcoming weekend by posting it on the Yahoo website. Starters can be changed any time, up to kickoff of each player’s game, by posting your changes to the Yahoo website. Players are locked in as either starters or bench players once their NFL team game starts. Only lineups/changes posted to the Yahoo website will be accepted. An active roster must consist of the following:

1 – QUARTERBACK
2 – RUNNING BACKS
3 – WIDE RECEIVERS
1 – TIGHT END
1 – KICKER
1 – DEFESNSE/SPECIAL TEAM

Note: My email address is mark_laurie@verizon.net; (917) 733-3767 is my cell number. In a fantasy football emergency, leave your active roster as voice mail on my cell phone or send it via email if you cannot get to Yahoo

C.                 DRAFT

1.                  The draft will be held Saturday September 11th, 2021 at my house in Howard Beach. The address is 163-24 86th street. The time of the draft is 5:00. Call if you need directions.

2.                  The order of the draft selections will be determined on a random basis, for the 1st round, the same order to be used for all odd rounds to follow. The even rounds will be serpentine of the odd rounds…for all 18 rounds.

3.                  If you cannot make the draft in person, I will have a conference call available – while sharing my laptop for all to see the draft picks as they are made.

4.                 Trades of draft picks are allowed.

E.                 LEAGUE STRUCTURE

1.                  The World League of Fantasy Football will consist of 12 teams divided into three 4-team divisions: Spades, Clubs, and Hearts.

2.                  Beginning in 2021, we will be using the newly established WLoFF Coefficient to help determine the Divisional Alignments. The WLoFF Coefficient is a comprehensive ranking of the current WLoFF teams, using data from the following 5 seasons. The 12 teams will be ranked from 1-12 and slotted into 4 tiers. One team from each tier will be randomly selected for each division.

3.                  Beginning in 2021, each team will play 14 regular season games, with weeks 14, 15, and 16 reserved for playoffs. The 14 regular season games will consist of the following:

a)                  2 games against each division opponent.

b)                  1 game against each outside division opponent.

F.                 ROSTER MOVEMENT

1.                  There are three types of roster movements that each team is able to make. They are listed below:

a)                   INJURED RESERVE – as determined by Yahoo

b)                  FREE AGENT or WAIVER PICK UP

c)                   TRADE

2.                  Yahoo dictates whether or not a player can be placed on Injured Reserve or not; please review the rules on our league’s website.

3.                  The first time that teams are allowed to pick up free agents is Tuesday, 9/14…effective for the 2nd game of the WLoFF season. This marks the first day of free agent pickups. No team is allowed to pick up a free agent until this day (this includes IR pickups).

4.                  Trades are allowed in the first 2 weeks even though free agent pickups are not. Week 11 will be the Trading Deadline. No trades will be allowed after the Transaction Day for Week 11.

5.                  Yahoo gives waiver priority to WLoFF teams by using a Free Agent Acquisition Budget (FAAB). This is a pool of money ($100) that each team will use in order to bid on available Free Agents.

G.                 Miscellaneous

1.                 Any desired rule changes must be submitted to the Commissioner, via email or Yahoo discussion posting, in the allotted timeframe before the season starts. If the commissioner deems the proposal fair he will put it to the league for an up-and-down vote. All new rule proposals need a majority vote in order to get passed.

H.                The Best Interest of the Game Clause
The Commissioner and President for life of the WLoFF retains the right to veto any trade or any maneuver performed by any team in the league at any time that is deemed unfair. The Commissioner has unlimited power when acting in the Best Interests of the Game.

I.                   PLAYOFF FORMAT

The following rules will apply for league playoffs:

1.                  1st place finishers in each of the (3) divisions automatically qualify for the playoffs and will be seeded from 1 to 3.

2.                  (3) wildcard teams will be determined based on the following criteria:

1)    Won/Lost Record

a)    If a team has two ties, the team with more wins will be seeded higher

2)    Head to Head Competition

3)    Divisional Record

4)    Total Points

5)    Record Against Tier I and Tier II Opponents

6)    Total Points scored in Divisional Games

3.                  Playoff Tiebreakers are broken using the same rules that the NFL uses. A summary of those rules is printed below but I keep a copy of the complete rules.

4.                  If there are multiple teams vying for a playoff spot then it is possible for a team or teams to be ruled out. For example,
there are three teams trying to make the last playoff spot; and one of those three teams lost to the other two teams. That team will be out of consideration for the last playoff spot. The other two teams will battle each other for the final spot by starting again from the first tiebreaker (Head to Head Competition) then going on to the next tiebreaker, Divisional Record, if necessary.

5.                  If there are three or more teams vying for two or more playoff spots then once one team is ruled in or out, all of the other eligible teams start over again from the first tiebreaker.

6.                  If there are three or more teams vying for a playoff spot or spots and two or more of those teams are from the same division; then the first order of action is to compare teams within the same division.

7.                  The three wildcard teams will be seeded from 4 to 6.

8.                  Schedule for playoffs will be as follows:

WEEK 14 -- Top (2) division winners will receive a first

round bye.

Game #1 -- #3 Seed vs. #6 Seed
Game #2 -- #4 Seed vs. #5 Seed

WEEK 15 --
Game #3 -- #1 Seed vs. Lowest Remaining Seed
Game #4 -- #2 Seed vs. Highest Remaining Seed

WEEK 16 --
Championship Game -- Game 3 Winner vs. Game 4 Winner
Consolation Game -- Game 3 Loser vs. Game 4 Loser

J.                   ENTRY FEES

1.                  Entry Fee -- $150.00 per team

2.                  Breakdown of prize money is as follows:

(Based on 12 team entry)
1st Place:  $1,000.00
2nd Place: $400.00
3rd Place:  $150.00

Best Record: $250.00

3.                  All League Fees will immediately be placed into a 6-Month CD with the profits (minus taxes) going towards food and beer for next year’s draft.

K.                PLAYOFF TIEBREAKERS

During the regular season, all games that end up with the two teams having the same score will result in a tie. During the playoffs the following procedure will be used to break the tie:

Total Passing Yards +

Total Rushing Yards +

Total Receiving Yards +

(Total Touchdowns (Rushing, Receiving, and Passing) * 6) +

Total Kicking Points (Real Football Points)

If this results in a tie, then a coin toss will be used to break the tie.
